Three children are dead after a gunman opened fire Monday at the Covenant School, a private Christian school in Nashville, Tenn., according to a Vanderbilt University Medical Center spokesperson.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said on Twitter that one of its officers “engaged” the shooter, who is now dead. The gunman’s identity is unclear.
All three children were pronounced dead after arriving at Vanderbilt Medical Center, the spokesperson told ABC News.
“We can confirm we have multiple patients,” the fire department said after the incident.
